Great question! Did you see the CSF video about the renewable energy installations on the KC Orchard Farm - it's a "net-zero farm" - very inspiring!
Since you live in NY, there are some good resources offered through NYSERDA. They offer assistance to identify energy efficiency measures for eligible farms and on-farm producers. Farms must be a customer of a New York State investor-owned utility and contribute to the System Benefits Charge (SBC). Farms can also request a FlexTech Consultant to perform an energy audit at no cost for audits up to $2,500; and cost-sharing is available for more complex energy audits.
Producers can also contact your local Cooperative Extension agricultural specialist for more input on energy audits or renewable energy installations.
